Rooted in Stories &
Curious Dining
Down Home is a heartfelt farm to table restaurant found in the rolling countryside of Grey County. We strive to tell the stories of our inspirations from our gardens, local farmers and producers through collaborative tasting menus. We highlight the seasons, preservation and local regenerative farms.
It is an honour to be recognized in the Toronto and Region 2024 MICHELIN Guide
We invite you to join us as we enjoy an evening together over a 10 course tasting style menu that follows the rhythm of the seasons with a focus on foraging, gardening, sustainability and small scale businesses within Grey County. Additionally we strive to change the negative narrative behind Ontario wines with a complete focus on Canadian beverages and an ever changing Ontario wine pairing.
It would be our pleasure to host you for an evening on the farm. We are currently operating on Fridays and Saturdays and the occasional Thursdays. One seating per evening starting at 6:30 and we approximately expect guests to be here for 3-3.5 hours. We operate on reservation and you can book with us on the Book Now button above.

FounderHannah has had a passion for food & hospitality her entire life. She pursued a degree in Oenology and Viticulture finishing in 2015 and then travelled making wine in Portugal & Australia. Realizing her passion was bigger then the cellar walls she began learning more about wine in a front of house position. Joel and Hannah met at a local restaurant and began Sumac & Salt within 6 months of dating. The rest is history!

We started our business Sumac & Salt in 2019. When we opened our farmhouse restaurant we wanted to adorn it a name. We called it Down Home which is in honour of Joel’s grandmothers house in Nova Scotia.
